I have been dancing since I was 2 years old.
I am now 23 and I have not stopped since! Dancing has always been a
passion of mine.
I performed for Christina Aguilera at Foxboro Stadium for the World Cup
Soccer half time show.I opened at the TD Bank North Garden for the
Boston Celtics, and have also appeared in a music video for the group
“Belly” which can be seen on MTV and VH1 and also appeared in a video
for Disney’s “Lego Land"  At the age of 12 I was the youngest person to
be accepted into Deborah Hanley’s Dance Team. I have been teaching
dance for 6 years and assisting for 10 and I plan to be dancing and
teaching for many more years to come!

I entered the wonderful world of dance and gymnastics when I was six years
old. The studio and the gymnasium were my second homes! After five years of
gymnastics training, I dedicated all of my spare time to dancing. At age twelve I
was invited to join a competitive dance team and continued competing until I
graduated high school. I competed in both local and national competitions,
traveling to Cape Mae, NJ and Orlando, Florida for some of the most well-
known dance competitions in the country. At UMass Amherst, I was part of a
student run dance team and choreographed hip hop, jazz and lyrical routines
for basketball games and performing arts events. Dancing for fourteen years is
all the proof necessary to show how much I truly love dance. I feel lucky to be
part of the ASD staff and I am very eager to teach and dance with the wonderful
students I know I will have!

At the age of 2 ½ my mother persuaded a small dance studio to accept me
in their school. She convinced them that I had the personality, ambition
and spunk of any of the 3 year olds in the class.  They accepted me and I’
ve been dancing ever since.
In high school, I was captain of the cheer leading squad, on the
gymnastics team and still found time to take anywhere from 6 to 10 dance
classes a week.  I couldn't’t get enough!  I love performing; I love the
dedication, practice and discipline that goes into each number.  Almost 25
years later I still love to practice, push myself and learn!  Currently, I am a
member of “The Savage Performance Team” in Norwood, MA.  I have
danced at a number of different events including a Boston Celtics game,
Fitness Expos and Competitions and am featured in “Ready, Set, Show!  A
guide to competing in fitness and figure events”.  Preview available at
www.cathysavagefitness.com.  In 2005 I came in runner up of a national
level fitness competition.

While in college, I continued to attend dance class, but was also given the
opportunity to teach class and a new love was found.  That was 10 years
ago and I have taught ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop to children and adults
from 2 years of age to 65!  Each year I am challenged to find innovative
combinations, new ways of stretching and infuse my love of dance in my
students.  Thankfully, I have been lucky enough to have highly motivated
and driven students, which makes my job one of the most pleasurable
ones I can imagine!

I received my dance training at the State University of New York at Geneseo,
where I performed in numerous dance concerts and in "West Side Story." After
moving to the Boston area, I continued studying ballet, jazz, and modern, at the
Ballet Theatre of Boston, Jeannette Neil's Dance Studio, and the Dance
Complex in Cambridge.  During graduate school at Boston University, I had the
opportunity to also teach a semester of ballet there (non-credit program). I
have been teaching ballet and pointe at several dance schools north of Boston
for many years.  I am also passionate about flamenco dancing, and will be
performing with a troupe that is presently being created.  I have been dancing
most of my life, and teaching gives me the opportunity to share this joy, and
pass on the excellent training I received from wonderful teachers.  It is very
rewarding to watch my students develop artistically as well as their technique.

Dance has been a part of my life since I can remember. I started
at the age of 3 and have plans on never stopping.  When I was in
high school I became a class assistant.  While in college earning
my Associate in Science in Business Administration I continued
to dance and teach classes. A month after graduating from
college I received the opportunity of opening my very own dance
studio.  I have participated in works shops with The Dance
Teachers Club of Boston, and Dance Across the City.  I also
continue to take classes where ever and when ever possible at
various studios and with various teachers and choreographers.
My goal is to show all of the dancers that come through my door
that the art of dance is a great way to express yourself and to
learn more about whom
you are and that you can do anything if you put your mind to it! My
mission is to provide a top quality dance education in a fun and
friendly environment to anyone that desires it.
